ERO Report
Excerpt from ERO Report, March 2006
"Students at Manukau Christian School receive a standard of tuition no lower than that provided for students at a comparable state school.
An outcome of the Christian values promoted by the parents and teachers is:
-
the warm and inclusive atmosphere in the school and
-
a culture of mutual respect amongst teachers, students and trustees.
Good relationships are evident across the school through:
Collated and analysed information from students indicates they are achieving above the level of their peers in standardized tests. These tests cover reading vocabulary, reading comprehension, listening comprehension and mathematics.
Good teaching practice contributes to these achievement outcomes. Teachers have high standards for student achievement and behaviour. They are supportive and affirming and at the same time make their expectations for students clear. Teachers are organised, classrooms are orderly, and time is well managed to maximise learning. Students across the school are focused and hardworking. The standard of their written presentation is consistently high.
Students indicate that they are appreciative of the learning opportunities they receive, the caring atmosphere at the school, the firm boundaries provided for them, and the support given by their teachers."
