Middle School: Years 7 to 10

In Years 7 to 10 we use the Cambridge Checkpoint diagnostic testing and examinations.  Pupils who graduate from our school attain internationally recognised benchmarks of academic achievement.   At the end of Year 9 students sit an external Cambridge examination:  Secondary 1 Checkpoints in English, Maths and Science.

Features include:
  • A specifically tailored teaching and learning programme delivered to 'early adolescents' in our Middle School.
  • A curriculum where the teaching, learning and assessments are linked to international and external benchmarks to provide a measure of the school's achievements in the wider context.  (External CIE Secondary 1 Checkpoint Exams).
  • Clear focus on 'stages of achievement' in learning at the Primary, Middle and Senior school levels.
  • "Intermediate" and "Middle School" are no longer viewed as two separate units, but rather a Year 7 to 10 focusing on the particular needs of 'early adolescents' in an integrated, seamless and consistent way.
  • Our Middle School courses include a full range of subjects:  Bible, Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, PE, Music, Art, French, Japanese, including business and practical studies expected in NZ schools.
  • Cambridge qualifications are widely respected and take the place of NCEA examinations.  Manukau Christian School is one of the few schools in South Auckland to offer this qualification.
